Idle Hours // Garment Care
Vivienne Westwood famously said- “Buy less, choose well, make it last”
With this in mind, Idle Hours is dedicated and committed to providing you garments with outstanding quality that stand the test of time, last years and not just a few washes.
Although natural and recycled textiles have a wild charm to them, we have let our recycled cotton fabrics go through a round of a softening process to smoothen and tone down the rugged feel. This in turn makes all our garments soft and breathable, giving you maximum comfort.
Here are a few tips to help you care of our garments with minimum impact on the environment:
- We recommend wearing the garments more than once between washes for longevity.
- DRY CLEAN for the first wash
- All our garments are yarn-dyed and prone to bleeding in the first two washes.
- Turn the garments inside-out before gently handwashing or machine-washing in cold water with a mild detergent. It is advised to wash whites and colored garments separately. DO NOT TUMBLE DRY!
- Avoid using bleach and abrasive spot-cleaning products.
- Line/ hang-dry the garments inside out to avoid direct contact with extreme sunlight.
- Use a steamer or low-heat iron to smooth out creases and wrinkles.
- Air out the garments every so often to get rid of mustiness or residual odors left from a strong perfume or detergent.
- Mend any minor damages in the garment rather than throwing them into the landfill, and consider passing them down to friends and family to prolong their use.
- Our garments get softer after each wash and should age quite gracefully.
